International Labour Day 2024 (May Day) Observed

Nepal Trade Union Congress (NTUC) convened a labour rally on the occasion of 135th International Labour Day in Kathmandu on 1 May 2024. NTUC officials, affiliates members and NTUC valley based district committees participated in the rally. All members had assembled in Bhadrakali and then marched towards Bhrikutimandap to join the formal programme of May day jointly organized by JTUCC. During the rally, various slogans representing the NTUC demands were chanted. The slogans covered the different issues of the workers such as social security; occupational safety and health; living wages, trade union rights; passage of international conventions, the formation of the constitutional labour commission; creation of decent work within the country; labour desk establishment at local governments; ration card; establishment of Labour Hospital etc.
Formal program on International May day this year was organized by the Joint Trade Union Coordination Center (JTUCC) at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu. The rally taken out by NTUC and other Trade Unions were assembled there for the formal program. Right Honorable Prime Minister, chief/representatives of different political parties, representative of employer's organizations and representatives from the international communities expressed their best wishes on the program. The program was chaired by NTUC president (current chair of the JTUCC) Mr. Yogendra Kumar Kunwar.
NTUC districts committee and provincial committee have organised differenet activities on the occassion of May Day where NTUC leaders were participated.
