Nepal Trade Union Congress (NTUC) observed World day against the Child Labour with expressing union commitment to avoid use of child labour in supply chains. NTUC -Labour Welfare and Social Protection Department in the coordination with NTUC Kathmandu District organized a union activist commitment program on the occasion of World day against the Child Labour that took place at union house, Anamnagar, Kathmandu. Union leaders highlighted the plight of child labour and stressed to fallow union code of conduct to minimize the use of child labour. NTUC is organizing such a program on the day since long back and raised union voices to support child rights. 62 Trade union activists as well as young leaders mostly from public and financials sectors enterprises level leaders from local base union were participating and deliberating their ideas and views on the base of union code of conduct against the use of child labor "We are committed against the use of child labor. We strongly fallow union code of conduct and avide any kind of use of child labour in their work premises as cafe areas, canteen, tea stops.  This year, the focus for World Day Against Child Labour is on child labour and supply chains. Trade Union offcials / leaders of financial/public sectors enterprises leaders graced to the program and try to boost-up campaign against the use of child labour. They also express their commitment to avoid the use of child labour and agree to fallow the code of conduct in their work place and working premise as canteen, cafe areas, hostels, nearby tea stops etc. 62 enterprises leaders mostly public and finance sectors were directly benefited from the campaign. Public sectors enterprises leaders/ unions' leader were agreed to fallow NTUC's developed code of conduct against the use of child labour. They also committed to avoid child labour in supply chains. Enterprises leaders also committed to form a committee to look after as “Frontline monitors” and “watchdogs” within the union network. They also committed for timely reporting and evaluation. Mr. Khila Nath Dahal –President NTUC pointed to need child labour issues would be prioritizing with the labour inspection system. As new labour law that is under the process of parliamentarian procedure try to boost up child rights. Mr. Mahendra Prasad Yadav- General Secretary pointed child labour issues and urged to link with decent work and need to work with concrete union action plan for its effective elimination. The program chaired by Ms. Sushila Ghimire, Chief Labour welfare and Social Protection Department. On the occasion a short movie was presented and NUC's endeavor on child labour was presented discussed. Ms. Pramila Dhungana- Lamsal, Senior Vice president public sector union of Nepal a pioneer affiliated to PSI, Mr. Laxman Adhikari - General Secretary of Financial Institution Employees Union of Nepal (FIEUN) along with Kathmandu valley base enterprises union leaders union repeated for the commitment on the occasion. Vice Presidents of NTUC Mr. Ganesh Pd. Niroula, Sister Rama Poudel, Women & Youth committee Presidents  Sister Sudha Dahal and Brother Baldev Tamang, CC Members Atmaram Poudel, Mina Neupane, Radhaika Kuiekel Khanal, President -Nepal Embroidery, Handicraft, Sewing and tailoring and knitting Workers Union  were expressed their commitment to avoid use of child labour.  NTUC- Kathmandu District President Mr. Ganesh Bhattari coordinated the program.
