World Day gainst Child Labour successfully held at NTUC Conference Hall

June 12, 2017, Kathmandu.

On the Occassion of World Day against Child labour 12th June, Labour Welfare and Social protection department of NTUC and NTUC ktm organized the interaction program The program was chaired by the department coordinator Ms. Sushila Ghimire.With the theme "In Confict and Disasters protect children from child labour, the Chief Guest of the program was honorable constitution assembly member Mr. Pushkar Aachary, Special guest of the program was Mr. Aayodhya Prasad Yadav, Vice-President of NTUC and other guest were Ms. Aasha Sungh Rathor and Ms. Lalitkala Gurung Deputy General Secreatry of NTUC and Mr.Subarna Karmachary, Former program coordinator of Amnesty International. Also, Mr. Ganesh K.C, President of FIEUN, Mr. Tej Prasad Rijal, President of NEHSKWU, NTUC education department coordinator Mr Khagendra Khatri, Central member of NTUC Mr. D.P. Aryal, NTUC women Committee President Sudha Dahal, NTUC youth president Mr. Baldev Tamang, President of NTUC kathmandu district Mr. Ganesh Bhattarai and various representatives of related affiliated union and districts seen in the program.

The program was presented by General Secretary of NETWON Mr. Dharma Bhandari. Although the program started lately, there were more than 80 participants keenly observed the program.  Mr. Ganesh K.C gave the welcome speech. He was focused more about what is child labour?, the understanding of TU leaders. The brief information of child labour in the paper was also distributed by ktm istrict initiation which will ease the understaning and the efforts taken by the district. There is a need of much more contibution need from NTUC in such issue, he stressed. Like wise, the program continued with the participant introduing themself.

Similarly, the guests from the front row showed the committment in the code of conduct of child labour which were done by the concensus between the NTUC affiliates union, ILO, concerned stakeholders and so on. The participants also gave their comments, feedback and recommendations regarding the Code of Conduct.

Also, NTUC Vice-President Mr. Aayodhya Prasad Yadav enquried the innovation, endevour from the government and also vowed to closely ally with the plans and policy regarding the education of the children. He also presented some good examples JILAF who is continuously assisting and supporting the children of the workers. There is a need to vaguely dicussion with high government officials about the adversity of child family and the possibility of their well being, he added. Followingly, Program coordinator of JILAF Nepal Ms. Yuki also appraised the program and also said its an previledge to be in NTUCs most of the program.

At last, Mr. Puskar Aacharya gave the closing remarks. H gave some relevant instances of practice inside the society. He strongly drag attention of the NTUC representatives and urge to take care in the lobbying the process before the amendments. The program also included the siteful presentation by Rammani poudel.
