Nepal Trade Union Congress celebrated International Youth Day

12 August, 2019, Kathmandu.

On the auspicious day of International Youth Day, Nepal Trade Union Congress celebrated the particular event at Nepal Trade Unioin Congress Office, Anamnagar, Kathmandu. The Program was chaired NTUC youth womam vice president Sis Durga Bhandari, chief guest of the program was General Secreatary of South Asian Regional Trade Union Council (SARTUC) and previous president of NTUC Brother Laxman Bahadur Basnet. Likewise, Special guest of the program were NTUC Immediate Past President Bro Khilanath Dahal, Senior Vice President Bro Mahendra Prasad Yadav, Vice President Bro Tejendra Jung Karki and Ajay Kumar Rai. NTUC central members, youths and representatives from various districts, affiliates and departments were present during the program.

During the greeting speech, Bro Ajay Kumar Rai wished everyone international youth day and told that NTUC are still lagging towards effective participation of youths from NTUC networks. Also Brother Tejendra Jung Karki expressed deep concern as youths are not attracted towards trade union movement. Furthermore, Bro Mahendra Prasad Yadave explained the importance of youth and their role in changed context of nepali structure. There are various facilities and provisions of youth empowerment, we are way behind to compete for it, he added.

Similarly, Bro Khilanath Dahal exclaimed youths of Nepal are still not educated. Apart from focusing upon keeping youths and taking best out of them by providing them adequate employment inside country, government plans and policies are concerned towards sending them abroad and import remittances only. Also, Bro Laxman Bahadur Basnet argued that youths are the force and means of development and failure of any country. Our context is that, we are limiting our strength within ourself and unable to extract it for proper cause.

At last, Sister Durga Bhandari, chairperson of the program applauded the participants and expressed thankful for being and taking part in the interactive program. She also promised to include all suggest and feedbacks provided by senior and profound leaders during the program.

The program was faciliated by NTUC youth secretary Bro Krishan Shah. Approximately, 55 participants attended the program. The program started at 12:00 pm and conculded at 4:00 pm. Participants passed feedbacks, comments, concerns during the interactive event.
