NTUC movements Seeks hike in Worker's Minimum Wage

The Nepal Trade Union Congress hold a rally on 16 July 2023 demanding an increment in minimum wages for workers both in the formal and informal sectors. The rally that originated form Maitighar concluded upon reaching New Baneshwor.

"The Protest has been organized to exert pressure on the authorities concerned to increase the minimum wages of workers who are currently struggling to sustain their families' Livelihoods due to inflation," said NTUC General Secretary Ajay Kumar Rai, and President Yogendra kumar Kunwar "The minimum wages of workers should be increased from the existing Npr. 15,000 (Approx. 191 US$) to Npr. 25,000 (Approx. 115 US$) per month," they said.

In addition to this, NTUC has asked the government to from the Labour Commission, ensure the representation of workers in policy-making and include the workers in contribution based social security scheme.
